Sophomore / Junior Scholars Event Schedule for Thursday, August 20

Please check this site on a regular basis as we continue to confirm times and locations of programs and activities for your arrival and orientation.

Arrival conflicts: Incoming sophomore and junior Scholars are expected to arrive on Thursday, August 20. If you will be living off-campus and are unable to make arrangements to arrive early, please contact Rosanna Mersinger at (814) 863-2636 or via e-mail rlm29@psu.edu immediately.

Dietary restrictions:  Several SHO TIME events may be catered by University-approved vendors.  Schreyer Scholars are asked to notify the Schreyer Honors College of any special dietary restrictions or allergies via e-mail to scholars@psu.edu by August 1.

Thursday, August 20: Arrival Day for Incoming Sophomore/Junior Scholars
9 a.m. to Noon Arrival and Move-In for all sophomore and junior Schreyer Scholars
1:30 p.m. Registration and Check-In
HUB Lawn, Hetzel Union Building
2:00 p.m. “An Orientation to Orientation”

HUB Auditorium
Learn more about the benefits and opportunities afforded to incoming sophomore/junior students in the Schreyer Honors College and discuss how your Orientation can be a dynamic one. 
2:30 p.m. “A-Z’s of Your Thesis”

HUB Auditorium, Hetzel Union Building

This session will walk you through the multi-stage process of consultation with faculty and other experts, active research and/or other creative activities, reflective evaluation, and extensive writing that are key components to the successful and timely completion of your senior thesis.
4:00 p.m. Summer Book Reading Discussions
