Academic Requirements

To remain in good standing and retain the benefits of the Schreyer Honors College, Schreyer Scholars must meet minimum GPA requirements, honors course and credit requirements, and deadlines for submission of required forms. The requirements, determined by year of entry into the college, are as follows.

Scholars Admitted Freshman Year

  • Enroll in and pass ENGL/CAS 137H/138T during your first two semesters.
  • Maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of at least 3.40.
  • Submit, on time, the Academic Plan. See Important Dates for specific information.
  • Complete 21 honors credits during your Freshman/Sophomore years.
  • Complete 14 honors credits during your Junior/Senior years.
  • Submit an approved thesis, meeting all thesis requirements and deadlines.

Scholars Admitted Sophomore Year (Paterno Fellows/Gateway)

  • Maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of at least 3.40.
  • Submit, on time, the Academic Plan. See Important Dates for specific information.
  • Complete 9 honors credits during your Sophomore year.
  • Complete 14 honors credits during your Junior/Senior years.
  • Submit an approved thesis, meeting all thesis requirements and deadlines.

Scholars Admitted Junior Year (Paterno Fellows/Gateway)

  • Maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of at least 3.40.
  • Submit, on time, the Academic Plan. See Important Dates for specific information.
  • Complete 14 honors credits during your Junior/Senior years.
  • Submit an approved thesis, meeting all thesis requirements and deadlines.
