Introducing permafrost warming and thawing in the Arctic and their impact on the natural environment, civil infrastructure, and people. Does climate change concern you? Are you interested in the science around the melting of the Arctic? Do you wonder how climate change will affect our civil infrastructure? Come learn about permafrost warming and thawing in the Arctic and their impact on the natural environment, civil infrastructure, and people. Dr. Ming Xiao will share his experience from a permafrost coastal erosion workshop in Fairbanks, Alaska. He will also share about his field trip to Barrow, the northern coast of Alaska, that he will take in Oct 2018, using videos and photos that he will take during the trip. It will be a presentation and discussion style event with videos, photos, and information about his experience of the field trip to Alaska, answering any and all student questions. Come enjoy interesting discussion and catered dinner.
