Scholar Assistants (SAs)

Welcome from your Scholar Assistants (SAs)! We are SHC students living in the honors residence halls that are here to foster a sense of community among Schreyer Scholars. You can also look forward to:

  • Diverse out-of-classroom activities
  • Fun and relaxing social programs
  • Interactive panel discussions with faculty and Scholar alumni

Hello, fellow Schreyer Scholars! My name is Pragya Singh and I am a junior majoring in Actuarial Science with a minor in Statistics. Being involved with the numerous clubs and activities offered here is a great way to become immersed in the unique culture of Penn State. In addition to serving as a Scholar Assistant, I am involved with the Schreyer Diversity Council, the SHC Career Development Program, The Center for Global Business Studies, and Phi Beta Lambda Professional Business Fraternity. Outside of clubs, you can find me lounging at the HUB, grabbing coffee at Redifer, or off exploring State College.

As a Scholar Assistant, I am really looking forward to creating new programs that will provide a meaningful college experience and help build a stronger Schreyer community. I love meeting fellow scholars, so if you ever see me on campus, please stop and say hello! If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat, feel free to contact me at pps5058@psu.edu.

Alejandro Cuevas headshot

Alejandro Cuevas Industrial Engineering

Hola Schreyer! My name is Alejandro Cuevas; I'm a sophomore pursuing a degree in Security and Risk Analysis, with a focus on Cyber Security and Information. I'm passionate about finding exploits and security vulnerabilities and my goal is to apply this passion to the tech industry. I'm also a former LJSer (Leadership Jumpstart), and currently a member of the Presidential Leadership Academy.

I'm always trying to discover new things to do. In the fall of 2015, I participated in consulting case study competitions, entrepreneurship startups, coding events, and hackathons–among other things. Penn State is a great place to find out what you have a knack for, and as a Scholar Assistant I'm always willing to help students make the most of their college experience.

If you have any questions, concerns, doubts, or simply looking for something exciting to do, reach me at aledancuevas@psu.edu, chances are that you will always find something interesting going on!

Hello, fellow Schreyer Scholars! My name is Lisa Gardner and I'm so honored and excited to be serving as a Scholar Assistant this year! I am a sophomore in the Division of Undergraduate Studies with interests in healthcare, technology, engineering, social entrepreneurship, and public health.

Kayla Rhea Business

Hello fellow Scholars!  My name is Kayla Rhea and I am very excited and honored to be serving as one of your Scholar Assistants this year. I am from Wappingers Falls, NY and am currently working toward a Business degree through the Smeal College of Business with hopes of pursuing an International Business minor.

I enjoy immersing myself in various activities and organizations to fulfill all of my interests, expand my knowledge and experiences, and meet new people. Last year I served on a THON Operations Committee, and continue to be involved with THON through my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta.  One of my primary focuses lies within Scholars Helping Scholars, where I serve as a trained helper to scholars in need of someone to talk to. I also love attending PSU fitness classes and concerts of all the wonderful artists and bands that travel to campus, feel free to join!

My college experience would not be nearly as amazing as it has been thus far without the Schreyer Honors College community.  The SHC has been such a motivating and supportive network and I strive to maintain those aspects for all of you.  Please feel free to reach out to me at kjr5463@psu.edu, for anything at all!  I am a very friendly person that is always here as someone to talk to and am committed to making all of your experiences within the SHC the best they can be!
