Among Schreyer Scholars, financial need is significant. Last year over 600 Schreyer Scholars demonstrated a higher financial need than the University was able to cover. Loans are often the only option for these students to continue their education.
Yet for many, even after taking private loans and borrowing from family members, students are unable to make ends meet. For Scholars who do find themselves unable to pay for the basics — tuition, books, room and board — the Schreyer Honors College emergency grants help pay the bills to keep them enrolled and on campus.
Watch the video below to see what an impact these grants can have in the lives of our Scholars:
We need private gifts each year to fill students' unforseen costs. Every dollar makes a difference to students struggling to stay in school:
Covers one semester of parking for a commuter student
Covers lab supplies, practical fees, or software licenses
Covers the primary text book for an entry-level course
Covers one month of an on-campus meal plan for students
Covers one-eigth of a semester of in-state tuition for upperclass students
Help Scholars today by getting us one step closer to our goal of $9,600. With an average award of $1,200, your gift of any size can make a difference.
"I come from a very difficult family situation in terms of finances and my mom has done everything she can to just keep me in school with rising tuition costs. Schreyer really made ends meet for me and made up for the gaps that I was starting to get worried about."- Kate Thompson Anthropology & Community, Environment and Development
Please consider making a difference in the life of a committed scholar by making a gift today!
