Honors Housing
Our residence halls are vibrant, welcoming places to live, bringing together both Schreyer Scholars and non-Scholars in a close-knit campus community. Honors housing offers more than just a convenient place to stay — it is a space to build friendships and connections with peers, participate in community events and shared traditions, and obtain support from Schreyer staff and other Scholars.

Penn State campuses enroll Schreyer Scholars
University Park Housing Location and Amenities
At University Park, honors housing is located within two residence halls, Atherton and Simmons. More than a residence hall, honors housing is a community of Scholars who you will get to know in classes, study groups, and through our many events and programs, which are held right in the halls.
Atherton and Simmons are part of the South Halls Residence Area, which is centrally located and near downtown State College. The residence halls are steps away from multiple on-campus and downtown dining options. They are also a short walk to first-year classroom buildings and close to campus amenities, such as the HUB-Robeson Center, the Penn State Libraries, and the White Building (Gym and Pool).
Both buildings offer music practice rooms, pianos, full kitchens, quiet study lounges, collaboration spaces, game rooms, and more.
Community Programming
All Schreyer Scholars, whether or not you live in honors housing, have access to the community spaces, study lounges, and meeting rooms located in these residence halls. You also have access to all of our community programming, which helps build connections among Scholars. Students, Schreyer organizations, and staff plan and host events throughout the year focused on wellness, making connections, or just having fun. The GLOBE: A Schreyer Living Learning Community
Expand your international perspective as a resident of the GLOBE Living Learning Community (LLC). With fewer than 50 students, the GLOBE gives you a close group of friends as soon as you step on campus.
In the GLOBE, you can travel the world without having to leave campus. You'll be immersed in an intercultural experience where you'll foster respect for human differences and expand your understanding of our globalized world. You'll be a part of a community of students with similar interests who participate in group dinners, field trips, events, and more. You'll cook meals with other residents in the full kitchen, and you'll enjoy in-depth discussions and cultural events in the lounges.
How do I select to live in the GLOBE?
Incoming first-year Schreyer Scholars can request to live in the GLOBE by selecting Schreyer Honors College GLOBE as their Living Learning Community preference in eLiving. Students who live in the GLOBE their first year can remain in the GLOBE all four years if they stay active in the community.
Location and Amenities
The GLOBE is in Simmons Hall. The floor is renovated with pod bathrooms and a full kitchen. The GLOBE has its own TV lounge, study lounges, and collaboration space.
GLOBE Community and Activities
It's important for residents of the GLOBE to be active members of the community, so residents must commit to participating in events throughout the year. GLOBE residents can attend events, such as international music or food nights, bus trips, discussions about world events, visiting speakers, outdoor activities, and more.
Honors Community at the Commonwealth Campuses
As a Schreyer Scholar, you can start at any of Penn State’s undergraduate campuses but must complete your junior and senior years at one of seven campuses: Abington, Altoona, Behrend, Berks, Brandywine, Harrisburg, or University Park. Each campus has a different feel and different offerings—such as honors housing, research, or athletic programs.
It’s worth visiting a few to decide which is right for you. What they all have in common is the honors community. If you are a Schreyer Scholar on any campus, you will have a dedicated honors coordinator and peers who share your passion for learning.
