How Career Development Works in Schreyer

In Schreyer, we assist Scholars throughout their career development process, which includes four key milestones.

  1. Understand Yourself

Schreyer staff will help you identify your interests, strengths, values, motivations, and goals. We'll guide you in making the most of opportunities at Penn State and beyond so you can build on your strengths and explore pathways that align with your future aspirations.

  2. Explore Your Options

We will help you explore career options through mentorship, job shadowing, career observation, industry resources, and hands-on experiences. These opportunities allow you to learn from professionals, evaluate potential paths, and gain insight into a variety of fields and industries.

  3. Build Skills & Experience

From leadership and communication to teamwork and problem-solving, we will help you build the skills employers value most. Experiences may include internships, research, part-time employment, student organization involvement, service, and other opportunities tailored to your goals.

  4. Stand Out

We will prepare you to present your best self to employers, graduate programs, and other next-step opportunities. Through support with resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and interviewing, you'll gain the tools and confidence needed to pursue your goals successfully.
