PNC Leadership Development Center
Through the generous support of PNC, the Schreyer Honors College can offer Schreyer Scholars a chance to participate in a leadership development center, the same kind of program used by companies and other organizations to identify top talent in their workforce.
Participating Scholars gain skills and insights into areas for future development that they carry with them into their entry into their careers. The program is an innovative and proven way to develop effective leaders for future success.
A key component of the PNC Leadership Development Center (LDC) is to have students’ behavior and performance evaluated over the course of a five-hour business simulation. Scholar Alumni with experience in management, executive development, hiring and recruitment are ideally suited to be volunteer assessors.
As an assessor, you would be teamed up with a graduate assistant. Together, you would evaluate how the students perform the various tasks they are assigned throughout the day. Your observations and comments would be instrumental in the feedback the student receives as a follow-up to the assessment exercise.
The SHC sponsors the LDC two times each semester with the daylong exercises held on a Saturday. Given the highly individualized nature of the assessment, the LDC limits participation to no more than 12 Scholars per session.
7 hours on assessment day — 2 hours of training and 5 hours of observation
- Observe and evaluate participants
- Participate in a role play exercise (you will be given a script in advance)
- Evaluate and rate each participant's performance
