DHFP: Exploring Current Event Themes and Hegemony in Hadestown

  • Wednesday, February 9, 2022
  • 6:00 PM- 7:00 PM
  • Zoom
In this follow-up conversation to the Hadestown trip, we will talk about the themes in the show. We’ll explore the general hegemony messages in the show as well as how audiences may connect these messages with specific examples depending on when they saw the show. We’ll also talk about the current event themes in the show, such as climate change, environmentalism, industry, and poverty, and discuss how we can “tell the sad tale” again in hopes that it “might turn out this time.” While this event is primarily designed for scholars who have attended the Hadestown day trip to New York City, scholars who were not able to attend are also invited to participate in this Zoom discussion. In lieu of a catered dinner, a restaurant gift card will be provided.

Schreyer gave me a really good resource and community. There’s 300 people in the exact same position I was in. It’s made Penn State a lot smaller and a lot more manageable.
