Careers in Communications: Exploring Marketing, PR, Advertising and Related Fields (Room 104)

From careers in marketing, brand management, PR, and digital media, this panel will share a wide array of communication experiences to help you to learn about various career paths, as well as the flexibility of the skills obtained through these majors.

Government/Think Tank/International Affairs/Policy (Room 105)

There are plenty of career opportunities with the government, and this panel will give you an overview of many of them. You’ll leave with an understanding of different government organizations, what they do, and how your skills and expertise may be of use to any one of them.

Careers in Finance (Room 106)

Scholars will leave this session with a firm understanding of different job options in finance. Learn how to make yourself stand out in the recruiting process and find out how to pursue a career in finance from alternative majors like engineering.

Real World 101 (Room 107)

This session offers Scholars the opportunity to speak with alumni about making a smooth transition from being a student to a professional whether that is in a work environment or furthering their education.

STEM Professionals: The Possibilities of a STEM Degree (Room 112)

Consulting, Communications, Finance, Sustainability, and Industry are a few examples of the numerous career paths for STEM graduates. Learn about how SHC alumni are utilizing their STEM degrees in a myriad of fields.

Careers in Healthcare (Room 104)

This panel will provide information and advice to Scholars interested in pursuing various careers in healthcare to give a clear idea of the range of options available in this field. Scholars will have the opportunity to connect with alumni in different careers under the healthcare umbrella.

Careers in Non-Profit/Alternative Paths (Room 105)

Come out to explore different careers within the sphere of non-profit organizations. This panel will introduce you to the different types of non-profit organizations and debunk certain myths associated with non-profit careers.

Interview/Resume/Networking (Room 106)

Learn tips and tricks for an attractive resume and master skills to help you nail that interview.

Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology (Room 107)

Alumni will share their experiences and trends they have seen in the start up industry. From tech transfer, to start ups, to social entrepreneurship, learn about career paths and skills necessary to work in innovate fields.

What is Consulting? (Room 112)

This panel is for Scholars from any academic discipline interested in learning more about careers in consulting. Additionally, you will learn about different types of consulting and the work associated with each.

Session 3

Medical School and the Medical Profession (Room 104)

Get advice on how to prepare for a career in medicine from Scholar Alumni working in the field and current medical students.

Law School and the Legal Profession (Room 105)

Learn about the ins and outs of the legal profession and gain an understanding of what to expect working as a lawyer. This panel will also expose you to the application process and the experience of attending law school.

Career Stories & Journeys (Room 106)

This panel will open your eyes to opportunities you never thought possible! Hear from alumni who are pursuing careers in fields that may be considered nontraditional given their major, and learn how to use experimentation and experience to find the perfect career match for you. For those of you asking yourself, “What am I doing with my life?” – This panel is for you!

Consulting Case Interviews (Room 107)

Scholar Alumni will explain the goal of case interviews and explore why they are so important to the companies that use them. You will leave with a firm grasp of at least one general approach to this type of interview.

Graduate School: STEM, Humanities and MBA (Room 112)

Are you thinking about extending your education another few years? Attend this panel to learn more about deciding to attend graduate school, applying to programs and finding success once you are in.
