As part of the Schreyer Honors College application process, potential Scholars are required to submit two academic teacher recommendations. Applicants have the option of submitting up to two more recommendations that can be from other teachers, a guidance counselor, a coach, or club adviser.
When applying to the Schreyer Honors College, applicants will be asked for the names and e-mail addresses of individuals they would like to submit letters on their behalf. E-mails will be sent to those recommenders, with instructions and a unique link to the online recommendation form. Recommenders will be asked to answer specific questions and submit a letter of recommendation using this unique link; we will not accept recommendations send by any other means (such an email, mailed or through Naviance).
If an applicant needs to replace one recommender with another, edit a recommender’s contact information or have the email re-sent, please contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please be conscious of the final deadline and provide your recommenders sufficient time to receive the email, complete the form and submit the recommendation on your behalf.
Once you have submitted both your Penn State and Schreyer Honors College applications, you will have the ability to check the status of your recommendations by logging back into your MyPennState account and selecting the Schreyer Honors College application link. It is solely the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all the required documents are received by the final deadline.
The deadline for all letters of recommendation has been extended to January 9 at 11:59 PM EST.
